An Amazing Memory

Tomorrow marks a very memorable day in my life. In June of 2004, I made a commitment to a friend that would forever change my life, a commitment that changed who I am and changed the way I think about people, family, love and friendship. I was asked by one of my best friends to help her mom during the days as she was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. I started out every day from 8:30-4:30 and reconnected with my friends mom, who I had always thought so highly of, she always seemed so cool to me and although she was "motherly" she had some neat ways about her that just interested me. She was Cuban and her culture itself was so different. Needless to say I was excited to take on this new challenge in my life. Slightly putting my business in a different corner as I spent every day helping and making a new friend. Some days more challenging than others and some days I got by knowing how much she appreciated me being with her. As her disease started to take over her body, the days became more challenging and this amazing strong woman became more and more frustrated in her lack of independence. It still amazes me how much I looked forward to seeing this woman, who at one time was just my friends mom, never in my life had I imagined that my friends mom would be an amazing friend to me too, never did I envision spending every day for over 2 years with her in the ups and downs of her life, never did I realize what an impact this woman would have on my life, never did I realize how lucky I was to have had the honor to know this woman and to "take care of her" for as long as I did. It was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. As tomorrow marks the 2 year mark since her passing we certainly don't forget, nor will we ever. Thinking of all you Daley's today!

Chunky Monkey

I had to post a little blurb about my little niece/god daughter. Isn't she adorable? and how chunky is she?! My sister in law sang chunky, monkey puddin pie for the majority of the shoot which resulted in some smiles like these. She was born 4 months ago is wearing size 9 mo clothing, seriously so adorable thought. If you want to see more of her shoot click here.
In other news, nothing terribly exciting here. Have a pretty low key weekend with one of my dearest friends baby shower... here's a little photo of her a few months ago... how adorable? It really is crazing watching your friends go through such changes in their lives, this one is super exciting!
In other news I did my first Boudoir photo session yesterday. It was fun, haven't even uploaded the photos onto my computer but maybe I'll post one when I do :)
At some point this weekend I'm hoping to photograph Kacey, I don't have much of an update for you, but hopefully we'll get some more photos of her soon!
I guess that's it from here. Hope you all have enjoyed the weather this week and have a great weekend!

Don't forget the specials!

I keep forgetting to remind all of you about the portrait specials I have throughout the year. When the "studio" is done and my house is back to normal I will have more, but this is the time of year to get out and enjoy the weather anyway! So check out my specials page so you and email if you'd like to set up an appointment.
Today I get to photograph my beautiful niece, Cierra. Hopefully I'll post a photo or two before the end of the day.
83 they are saying today! Enjoy it!

B.A.B.Y

The newest addition to the site this week is a maternity shoot I had last weekend. There were so many fabulous photos that it was hard to choose, but there are a few in here that I really liked. The baby was so good, she really did do anything I ask. I know I already blogged about it but I had to post a few to go along with it! Anyway, I hope to post some of the baby when she arrives too!
In other news our little Kacey is now home, although the story doesn't get better, she at least is in the comfort of her home with her loving family. She still has a high fever and she has stopped eating and drinking 6 days or so ago. Reading her blog is just so sad, the mom went on Saturday to pick out their plot at the cemetery... that just shouldn't happen for a family this young, for a child this young. Kacey's dad posted the most heart touching story today it was a story that seems to be their life and such a positive way to look at such a crumby thing. I'm supposed to go take photos this weekend, I just hope I have the opportunity to do so a few more times.
Just thinking about the upcoming wedding season and starting to get really excited for it. Anyone have any good new songs, or songs you are doing for your first dance that you want to share? It would be nice to hear... don't any of you get tired of listening to the same stuff I have! I do! So share some song choices if you have any!
That's all for here I guess. Enjoy the weather tomorrow, it's supposed to be 82!!!

One Happy Island...

Ok Steve and Tara your engagement photos are done! Finally! you can check them out here.
You guys really were so adorable and although the weather wasn't Aruba perfect, I'm super excited for all the great things we will get there! This was one of my favorites, it was just sincere and showed how much they love each other and how cute they are!
Did anyone check out the end of their slide show? I love how they tried to do the little, in the air skip thing... it really just goes to show they are up for anything and so fun! I loved you guys!

Anyway, on a different note, a sad note, our little Kacey isn't doing well. Her blasts are now at 66% and the doctors haven't given her much more time on here with us. I can only imagine the pain and emotions that family must be feeling as I feel I have plenty and I don't even really know the girl. There is no reason a family or a child of any age should go through all that they have gone through and I really just pray she doesn't suffer and hope her family heals from the tragedy they have had in the last few years! uggh. Thinking of you guys all the time.

My college roommate just had her second child, another beautiful girl, and here is her birth announcement... isn't she beautiful?! We had fun doing this shoot, her 2 1/2 year old is so fun and challenging but adorable and fun to photograph. I'll post more of those photos at some point hopefully soon! Anyway in case you don't know I do custom birth announcements and custom invites etc so if you or someone you know needs anything let me know!
I'm off to meet my girlfriend for lunch, have a fantastic Tuesday, and enjoy the nice weather!

Thank you Thank you my Knottie girls :)

I wanted to first start this blog and thanking all of you former brides of mine who voted for Kimberly Lynn Photography on the best of weddings for The Knot! . On Friday I got this awesome award and a plaque that reads Congratulations! Kimberly Lynn Photography the best in weddings as voted by local brides! So I immediately run out to the local drug store to snatch my copy of the knot to find out what people had to say and and this is what it reads: 3 stars (which is the best rating :)) Pleased customers praise Kimberly Lynn's "easygoing, artistic style" as well as her "energetic" and "professional" demeanor. "She did an excellent job with the pictures, albums, and the slide show, and she made our day extra special." She's speedy too: "Photos were ready in three weeks"
So although I don't know who of you nominated me and had such wonderful things to say, I really do appreciate it more than you know. It comes at a great time as we start to kick off the 2008 season and makes me strive to be better this year. So again thank you, thank you to all of you who I've had the honor of photographing and for voting for me!
In other weekend news, Saturday I shot a 50th wedding anniversary, isn't that wonderful 50 years of living with the same person! It was really neat seeing the family and friends and bridal party of this couple and all the stories they all remembered from the wedding day itself. Saturday night my hubby and I took out our new tenants... What awesome people. We have been so fortunate with our rental house to have amazing tenants and it doesn't stop here!
Sunday I had a maternity/family shoot for an old client of mine. It was so wonderful to see them and see how much the little one has grown. The little girl who is 2 1/2 was an amazing listener. She truly might have been the best listener for a kid that age I have ever worked with... and she posed! If you told her what to do, she'd do it, how fabulous is that?! And her mother is just adorable with this big belly... you'll get to see when I post it... an adorable family that I'm excited to share with you. Yesterday afternoon I just hung with my mom and sister, Karen and we went house hunting for my other sister, Kristen who is vacationing in Florida... nice huh!?!
Anyway, I really need to hit the gym just wanted to update you on my life! Have a great start to a hopefully warm week!

Say a little prayer

I find it so sad that most of my blog consists of begging all of you to put aside apiece of your day to pray for this little child, and her family who is constantly fighting for her life. It breaks my heart that she is suffering and dealing with all this at age 2+ and it is so unfair for her parents to have to make such permanent decisions, it's just not fair!
Thanks to all of you who purchased pictures from Kacey's photo shoot
I sent a letter to you to explain to you that the profit off those pictures isn't going into my pocket but in fact going to the Kacey Rose trust fund to give back to the family. So you not only have lasting photos of this fabulous girl, but you also donated to hopefully some day find a cure, so no other family will go through any of this... so those of you that are still interested, please purchase and I will do the same with your money, and as always, say your prayers that this little girl lives!
Uggh, hard to move on from that, but just to keep you all in the loop, I took some great classes this week which I will share with you and post some photos. Monday was at Carla's and it was awesome, it was a great way to network and a great day to get out there and shoot. Last night I had another class which was pretty good, a little bit on lighting, but it did end past my bedtime and I got home at 11:30 which meant that I missed my alarm at 4:30 this morning and therefor missed the gym, I guess I'll live!
Today I took the top off the jeep and took my pup for a ride, it was an awesome day for it and I enjoyed every minute of it, however of course we can't get the top back on the jeep, and it seems as though there will be a lot of rain in the very near future, so again the furniture in the garage gets moved and we make a home for the jeep back in the garage... this is getting old, and I can't imagine it's this difficult or there wouldn't be so many jeeps on the road! Some day we'll figure it out!
As for this weekend... nothing crazy exciting, we have some great new tenants moving into our rental house and I'm excited to have them, and sad to see our existing tenant leave, she was absolutely wonderful. Sunday I have another maternity shoot, which I'm looking forward to.
Tomorrow I will hopefully finish Steve and Tara's engagement shoot (aka the Aruba people) I'm sure they are anxiously awaiting... thanks for being so patient! Annie & Chris your photos have arrived so it won't be long until you have your album now! Yay!
Anyway, gonna try and spend a few minutes with my hubby, so enjoy what's left of the night and hopefully I'll have good stuff to post tomorrow... oh and please... don't forget to pray for Kacey!

A few favorites of a Special Girl

Just wanted to share really quickly some of my favorite photos of Kacey's shoot. As far as I know Kacey is coming out of the hospital and going home again today. If you could please all say your prayers that this little girl stays pain free and wins the battle she has been fighting.
Off to album designing!
