Leave the top on...

What a busy, fun weekend! It started off, not so great when my hubby got sick :( I was selfish and didn't really take care of him for fear of getting sick and ruining my working weekend! I managed to skip the flu so far and had a fun working weekend, of course mixed in with some fun!
Saturday I had a batmitzvah at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury which was a lot of fun, everyone there seemed to have a blast!
Later that afternoon I met Tara and Steve (aka my Aruba couple) yes if you haven't heard I'm shooting a wedding in Aruba this summer, and I'm so excited. My family has traveled there quite a bit and I'm so excited to finally photograph this adorable couple in this beautiful setting!!! Anyway... I met them this weekend in Elizabeth Park for an engagement shoot. It was so awesome to finally meet them and they are so adorable and so easy to work with. I can't wait for the wedding day and our shoot after it too! Although the weather wasn't perfect and the scenery surely wasn't Aruba it was great to see what kind of things they were up for and get to feel them out a bit... let me add there there wasn't much they weren't up for... you'll see when I post the photos! :)
Saturday night my sisters, brother in law and husband, when to my parents new house and had our first real gathering and the start of many happy memories at their new house.
Sunday morning we (my husband and I) were happily headed to church to witness the baptism of our beautiful God daughter (Cierra) It was a really nice mass, followed by a great lunch with family and friends.
And now to get to the point of the title... leave the top on!!!
Sunday afternoon at 3:30 we decide we should try to take the top off of our jeep wrangler... hence TRY... we get the hard top off, with very little trouble (only one trip to home depot) and about an hour later it's off! Nice... so we start with the soft top, where at 7:45 we hop back in the car speeding back to home depot, and coming home to realize we just simply can't do this tonight. so we clear out the garage (which has started to be filled with our house things as we prep for this addition!) and put the jeep in the garage. Sooo this morning I called up jeep and at 8:30 I layered in sweats, a hat, a good and my husbands winter coat, along with gloves, a scarf and of course the umbrella in hand and I headed down the highway with the top off to the dealership to have them help put the soft top on. It was such a site... if any of you saw me... I hope you got as good a laugh as I did. I laughed the whole way there, now thinking that if I wasn't laughing I'd probablly be crying at how ridiculous this whole episode was. So the point of the story... wait ti it's warm til you take your top off :) (the jeep top that is :))
On that note... have a great day!

Pack it up...

Pack it up, move it out was sort of the theme for these few days ahead. My parents are moving out of their/our house that we have lived in for about 19 years! I find it somewhat sad we will no longer have the house, but I've also realized it's just a house and I'm so happy and excited for my parents to move into what they are so looking forward to... a custom built house. It really is awesome and perfect for them, and I really couldn't be happier for them. So despite all the packing and boxes and lugging for the next week or so we are moving onward in our lives and ready for a new home to fill with many more memories!
Today and tomorrow I'll be there packing then, Thursday and Friday I'll be at the new house, Un-packing :)
This past weekend I did a shoot for Kacey Rose she was adorable. Her hair has grown in quite a bit and she was filled with energy. She wasn't thrilled about having her pictures taken at first, so we captured her reading with her mom and flying w/ her dad. Then we went outside for her favorite thing of all... the swing. It was freezing out and she didn't want to leave that swing, she had a smile on her face from ear to ear and she kept asking to be pushed higher, and then she'd scream with excitement as she glided through the cold air. It really was special to capture all this and be able to give it to their family. I am working on the photos but should have them done tomorrow so I'll be sure to post a few of my favorites.
Stay tuned for more!

ABC Books

Calling all moms, dad's, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. I wanted to inform all of you of the new ABC books that I'm creating after documenting your childs day. Click to see an Example.
They really are so cute, and Jill had a great idea of going to this "beach" where she knew the birds would be out. I was sure the birds would all fly away when a one year old was walking towards them, but they stayed it was really fun.
Anyways, for those of you who have kept up to date with my Kacey Rose story, here's an update. It appears as though things are not going as the family had hoped for and infact they are trying one last drug but the Dr.'s are all doubtful and feel that there is no cure for her cancer. What a terrible story for this child and her family. I ask that all of you keep them in your thoughts and prayers and hope that a miracle comes through and saves her life. In the mean time, I plan on photographing their family again, this weekend to help treasure the memories of their princess.
Anyway, on a happier note... I started my wedding season again this past weekend and it was awesome! Annie & Chris were so cute, and seem so happy together. The rainstorm held off and we were able to take photos outside at the aqua turf which was great... although a little chilly, it worked out really well :) I still haven't uploaded the photos, but as soon as I do I'll post one or two?
Anyway, off to celebrate St. Patty's day! Cheers! :)

Mobile Advertising

So I just got back from the Adacemy of Ideas at the Aqua Turf hosted by Barker Specialty. As soon as I drove into the lot I notice this large yellow truck with MY advertisement on the back! I have to say it was pretty cool to drive in and see that! Hopefully you will all see it on the highway at one point or another and see for yourselves! The show itself was really cool... who knew there were so many ideas of crazy things out there, I certainly didn't but really enjoyed seeing everything.
Well I'm off to a meeting but just wanted to share the advertising news and photos with you!
Have a great afternoon!

Another Monday

I can't believe it's already Monday... where do the weekends go? If any of you did anything exciting and want share with the rest of us, please do!
I took a trip to Boston on Friday, where I watched a track meet for several hours, and would you believe I didn't even bring my camera? I think it was just nice to go and relax and watch the events and not be worried about having my camera at all times. Needless to say the indoor track season is now over, and outdoor begins!
In more exciting news, I THINK we might be putting an addition on our house which in turn means that... I MIGHT BE GETTING A STUDIO AGAIN! you see for all of you who didn't know me, before I married my awesome husband I had a cute little house that I bought 3 years ago, where I could work from, a tiny little studio set up inside which was perfect for what I needed, but so they say about marriage, it's a give and take, and I took him and gave up my studio :( but it looks as though those days were short lived and I might see that again. I can't get my hopes up too much yet for nothing is done, but I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, Wednesday I'm attending Barker Speciality's Academy of Ideas where I have been asked by Gerry Barker himself to have a business lunch and meet some neat vendors. It should be a neat way to meet people and see the latest of ideas!
In other fun news I am also advertising with Barker Speciality. They just purchased a vehicle, so I call this a moving billboard. It's basically a truck with from what I understand 2 huge displays on the side and one in the rear and they drive from Hartford, to Stamford in rush hour 2 times a day and my ad will appear on the rear, which I personally think is just the best... what else do you do when you are stuck in traffic except study the ad in front of you right?! I can let you know more about the truck on Wednesday when I return from my luncheon.
Anyway enough about me, feel free to share anything.. anyone!!!
